Tropea
Tropea is one of the most beautiful towns in Calabria on the south Tyrrhenian coast, and has successfully preserved its 16th century features, offering both historical and architectural delights. It overlooks a crystal clear blue sea with magnificent white, sandy beaches and impressive rock formations.
The new Sunsail base is located in the main marina, next to a shopping area and open air theater. This is the ideal departure point to visit southern Italy, Sicily or the Aeolian Islands, only 30 miles away.
The group of seven islands which make up the Aeolians are separated from each other by just a few short miles. Stromboli is Europe's biggest active volcano after Etna. The island of Basiluzzo, close to Panerea is uninhabited and an ideal place for swimming, snorkeling and fishing. Panarea, is the smallest but by far the most picturesque. Lipari, is the oldest and largest of the Aeolian Islands. This elevated and craggy island has spectacular beaches and breathtaking ragged coasts whose walls rise from below the sea. Vulcano, is famous for its baths in the warm waters of its underwater springs. Salina, is the island with the highest peaks and the only Aeolian island with blooming vegetation. Filicudi, is a beautiful island where time stops - electricity was installed just 10 years ago! The last, Alicudi, is the most isolated of the Aeolian Islands.
